[Updated on 8 March 2019]
It all started after I learned that Fred Wilson, a venture capitalist, the co-founder of Union Square Ventures, writes daily at AVC.com, and has been blogging everyday without fail since Sep 2003. That was in Apr 2017, when I was doing my Sloan Fellows program at MIT. I got inspired and wanted to do the same. You can read more about it in my first post. Anyway, I tried in 2017 and 2018 but failed.
On 1 Jan 2019, I decided to try again and haven’t looked back since. Today is the 8th of March, 67th day of 2019, so that means I have written 67 posts. I have gotten the rhythm and it’s been something that I look forward to every morning. So hopefully I am disciplined enough to write everyday until, well, we shall see.
A brief background:
- A typical Asian lady who grew up in a middle-income class family and always seek for better education as a means to improve herself and her family’s lives. Schools I attended are Convent Klang (primary to lower secondary), Kolej Yayasan Saad (higher secondary), Kolej Yayasan UEM (A-level), LSE (both degree and masters) and MIT (MBA; Sloan Fellows 2017) and I am also a CFA charterholder. Good education is one of the key ingredients that got me to where I am today. Hence, I firmly vouch for #equaleducationopportunity for everyone.
- Currently working in a sovereign wealth fund focusing on (1) portfolio construct, balancing between scientific/mathematical way + human elements and balancing between the returns and risks; (2) value creation through big data. No (2) is deeply in my heart because I believe that’s the future that all companies and everyone should harness. #dataisthefuture
- The best part about me, happily married with a man who completes me with my imperfections and blessed with a 1-year old son. My family (mom and sisters), my family in-law and my best friends are my strongest support system.
This blog is a platform for me to inculcate a healthy and discipline habit and that is to talk/write about what I like/inspires me and be accountable for my own views which is mostly on corporate life, investing, leadership, women, parenting/working mom, data/technology and education. Feel free to agree to disagree with me!
